Group therapy has many advantages that benefit a patient's physical, psychological, cognitive, and social health. Group therapy helps reduce fall risks, maintain or improve activities of daily living, facilitate better moods which lower depression and anxiety through various social interactions and creates peer support and camaraderie.

At Christian Care Center of Unicoi County, therapists, nursing staff, and administration encourage engagement with a fun-loving atmosphere that benefits improvements in quality of life and function. With groups, therapists incorporated dynamic standing and sitting exercise, fine motor control activities, upper and lower extremity strengthening, and cognitive challenges to improve independence with daily tasks.

This group elected to enjoy their group activity outside. One patient stated that she enjoyed the fresh air and activities, while another clamored for more “fun”. We are happy with the inclusion of different patients and the excitement/smiles exhibited by each person and thanked all who participated.
