Celebrating Clinical Success : Alma Curd-Brown
Mrs. Alma Curd-Brown was a resident of Christian Care Center of Unicoi County. She was admitted to our Rehabilitation Center to participate in our inpatient program after surgery on her left knee resulting in a decline in function.
Mrs. Curd-Brown, after initial hesitation due to increase in pain, progressed in her therapy sessions with improvements in activity tolerance/stability, range of motion, and balance. With her continued perseverance Mrs. Curd-Brown accomplished her goals and can return to her home. Upon completion of therapy, she states, “Therapy was one of the best things I had. It gave me hope to strengthen my legs again. All the staff were experienced, helpful, and incredibly fun to be around. The whole facility facilitated my recovery and helped me get back on my feet.”

Ms. Janice Hughes was a resident of Christian Care Center of Unicoi County. She was admitted to our Rehabilitation Center to participate in our inpatient program after a decline in function.
Ms. Hughes progressed in her therapy sessions with improvements in her balance/stability while decreasing her muscle fatigue during functional tasks. She excelled in therapy with the assistance of Physical, Occupational, Speech Therapy services. Upon completion of therapy, she stated that she will miss us all. She continues to profess her sincere enjoyment and fun in therapy while gaining strength to go home. Ms. Hughes was able to return home with renewed strength and stability, accomplishing goals set out in therapy.

Ms. Dana Kehs was a resident of Christian Care Center of Unicoi County. She was admitted to our Rehabilitation Center to participate in our inpatient program after a decline in function due to increased symptoms of vertigo. Unaware of treatment options, Ms. Kehs was educated on effects of vertigo, treatment options, and exercise prescription.
Ms. Kehs progressed in her therapy sessions with improvements in her balance/stability while significant decreases in vertigo symptoms were observed. She thrived in therapy and accomplished her goals, discharging from our facility to her back to her home. Upon completion of therapy, she stated that she had apprehension when she came to Christian Care Center of Unicoi, but everyone made her feel welcomed and comfortable. She continues to state that the therapy group of Physical, Occupational, and Speech were encouraging, teaching various strategies that she could use at home. She ends by saying she was so glad that she came to Christian Care Center of Unicoi, and she feels ready for any challenges ahead.

Ms. Pamela Duncan was a resident of Christian Care Center of Unicoi County where she was admitted to our Rehabilitation Center to participate in our inpatient program following a hospital stay resulting in decline in function. With the understanding of her non-weight bearing instructions, Ms. Duncan performed therapy to improve functional mobility, strength, and activity tolerance.
While in Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy, she improved her activity tolerance, dynamic stability, and progressed her independence with functional tasks. Ms. Duncan accomplished several goals in therapy. She stated upon completion of therapy that it helped her a lot and everyone was nice to her. She continues to thank the therapy team for her rehab.

Ms. Sheila Honeycutt was a resident of Christian Care Center of Unicoi County where she was admitted to our Rehabilitation Center to participate in our inpatient program following a decline in function.
With the drive to succeed, she attacked therapy to improve functional mobility, strength, and activity tolerance. While in Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy, she improved her activity tolerance, dynamic stability, and progressed her independence with functional tasks.
Ms. Honeycutt achieved each of her goals in therapy. She stated upon completion of therapy that she had enjoyed her experience and that the staff had done an excellent job. She continues to thank the therapy team for her rehab.

Mr. James Harris was a resident of Christian Care Center of Unicoi County where he was admitted to our Rehabilitation Center to participate in our inpatient program following a hip replacement resulting in a decline in function.
After significant discomfort initially, Mr. Harris made sizable progression towards improving functional mobility, strength, and activity tolerance. While in Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy, he improved his walking distance, dynamic stability, and progressed his independence with functional tasks.
With his imminent discharge, Mr. Harris pressed to complete each of his goals with the ultimate one of going home. He stated upon completion of therapy that he had an excellent experience and would love to do continue therapy at home due to how much he enjoyed it. He continues to state that the people at Christian Care Center of Unicoi County were wonderful to him, and that the facility was excellent.

Bobby Hoffman was a resident of Christian Care Center of Unicoi County where he admitted to our Rehabilitation Center to participate in our inpatient program following in a decline in function. Mr. Hoffman was determined to demonstrate improvements in functional strength, mobility, and activity tolerance.
While engaging in our therapeutic services of Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy, he improved his balance, activity tolerance, and while advancing his stability during functional tasks. With his impending discharge, Mr. Hoffman completed each of his goals with the most important one of going home. He stated upon completion of therapy that he thought therapy helped him a lot especially doing the machine (nu step) and using his “bad foot”, thank you.

Mr. Finley Owens was a resident of Christian Care Center of Unicoi County where he admitted to our Rehabilitation Center to participate in our inpatient program following a fall resulting in a decline in function.
After overcoming increased neck discomfort, Mr. Owens demonstrated improvements in functional mobility, strength, and activity tolerance. While in Physical and Occupational Therapy, he improved his balance, activity tolerance, and advanced his stability with functional tasks.
With his discharge in his future, Mr. Owens applied significant effort to complete each of his goals with the ultimate one being going home. He stated upon completion of therapy that therapy was good for him and good to him.

Ms. Dorothy Lewis was a resident of Christian Care Center of Unicoi County where she was admitted to our Rehabilitation Center to participate in our inpatient program following a decline in function.
From the first day, Ms. Lewis demonstrated the drive to improve. She made significant progression towards improving functional mobility, strength, and cognition. While in Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy, she improved her activity tolerance, walking distance, and progressed her independence with functional tasks.
With her approaching discharge to Assisted Living, Ms. Lewis pressed to complete each of her goals. She stated upon completion of therapy that she wants to thank us for being good to her and that she enjoyed her time each day in therapy.

Ms. Alean Hughes was a resident of Christian Care Center of Unicoi County. She was admitted to our Rehabilitation Center to participate in our inpatient program after a decline in function that resulted in a hospital stay.
Ms. Hughes demonstrated increased willingness to perform all activities in her therapy sessions demonstrating improvements in balance/stability, safety awareness, and activity tolerance. She set a goal to go back home at the beginning of therapy and she accomplished it, discharging from our facility with improved functionality.

Mr. William Baucom was a resident of Christian Care Center of Unicoi County where he admitted to our Rehabilitation Center to participate in our inpatient program following a decline in function.
From the beginning of therapy, Mr. Baucom demonstrated successful improvements in functional mobility, strength, and stability. While in Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy, he improved his balance, activity tolerance, and functional tasks performance. With discharge just around the corner, Mr. Baucom stated that he has improved his walking and that here we did good.

Ms. Helen Carlsen was a resident of Christian Care Center of Unicoi County where she admitted to our Rehabilitation Center to participate in our inpatient program following a decline in function.
After initial hesitance due to unfamiliarity, Ms. Carlsen experienced immediate progression towards improvements in functional mobility, strength, and cognition. While in Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy, she enhanced her walking distance, activity tolerance, and progressed her balance with functional tasks.
With her imminent discharge, Ms. Carlsen stated that she loved the therapy experience. She continues to profess that she could not wait to get down there and get on the “horse” what some residence say in reference to the Nu Step exercise machine.

It is not often that a mother and daughter are admitted to Christian Care Center of Unicoi County for rehabilitative services. Ms. Dorothy Gauntt and Ms. Anna Chandler were residents of our Christian Care community after a decline in function.
Ms. Gauntt and Ms. Chandler set goals of returning home at their prior level of functioning. With their aspiring foresight, each of them flourished in therapy increasing their activity tolerance, walking distance, and balance/stability. With success continually achieved, Ms. Gauntt and Ms. Chandler accomplished their goal set out at the beginning of therapy.
Upon completion of therapy, Ms. Gauntt states that therapy was great! Folks are always kind and extremely helpful. Ms. Chandler goes on to add that everything was great in all respective services.

Mrs. Kay Schneider was a resident of Christian Care Center of Unicoi County. She admitted to our Rehabilitation Center to participate in our inpatient program after a decline in function resulting in a hospitalization.
She began therapy with various barriers in which she attacked head on. Her therapy sessions demonstrated improvements in activity tolerance, transfers, and balance/stability. She accomplished her goals set out at the beginning of therapy, discharging from our Facility back home. Upon completion of therapy, she stated that overall, daily therapy was particularly good. She continued to state that everyone was very cordial during her care and time at the facility.

Ms. Lucille Woodby was a resident of Christian Care Center of Unicoi County where she admitted to our Rehabilitation Center to participate in our inpatient program following a decline in function.
She made significant progression towards improving functional mobility, strength, and cognition. While in Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy, she improved her walking distance, activity tolerance, and progressed her independence with functional tasks.

Ms. Billie Harris is a resident of Christian Care Center of Unicoi County. She returned from the hospital to our rehabilitation services due to a fall resulting in hip surgery.
Ms. Harris demonstrated increased will to return to her prior level of function as she progressed in her therapy sessions with improvements in activity tolerance and functional mobility. While receiving skilled services in Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy, Ms. Harris excelled.
After accomplishing her goals, Ms. Harris states that she enjoyed the therapy and thanked each therapist for their help. We are proud of the progress you have made and are happy to see you roam the halls of Christian Care Center of Unicoi County again!
